The Connecticut Audubon Society’s Fairfield Nature Center is a hub of environmental education activities and events throughout the year. The Center adjoins the 155-acre Roy and Margot Larsen Wildlife Sanctuary, a nature preserve serving as an extensive outdoor classroom, for school classes, summer camp, scouting, and adult education and conservation programs.
Seven miles of walking trails, raised boardwalks and bridges offer access to the varied land, forest and freshwater ecosystems. The one-mile Chiboucas Special Use Trail accommodates wheelchairs and strollers. A favorite feature for visitors of all ages is the Birds of Prey compound housing our raptor education ambassadors.
The Sanctuary trails are open to the public year round, seven days a week, from dawn to dusk. The Center building and facilities are open Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and house classrooms for our adult and award-winning education programs, as well as the live education animals and exhibits, and the Nature Store.
